JAKARTA -- PT Timah received the Business and Human Rights Risk Assessment Award (PRISMA) from the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia. The award was presented in recognition of PT Timah Tbk's compliance with human rights-based business risk assessment standards.
The award was handed over by Minister of Human Rights Natalius Pigai to the Human Resources Director of PT Timah Tbk at The Westin Jakarta on Friday (September 19, 2025).
PRISMA is an initiative by the Ministry of Law and Human Rights to encourage companies in Indonesia to integrate human rights principles into their business practices. The assessment covers 12 indicators, including human rights policies and labor, working conditions, labor unions, privacy, discrimination, environment, land and indigenous communities, corporate social responsibility (CSR), grievance mechanisms, and more.
The Ministry emphasized that business and human rights are the foundation of a civilized nation. This principle was reinforced by Presidential Regulation No. 60 of 2023 on the National Strategy on Business and Human Rights.
Minister of Human Rights Natalius Pigai explained that the regulation requires businesses to respect human rights. However, he noted that while it is currently voluntary, it will gradually become mandatory starting in 2027 or 2028.
As such, the Ministry granted awards to eight companies that have complied with human rights principles, based on the Business and Human Rights Risk Assessment System (PRISMA).
"PRISMA is a self-assessment program for companies to analyze the risks of human rights violations in their business activities in Indonesia. I would like to thank those who have received the award, but don't get too comfortable-the award is valid for only one year," Pigai said, as quoted by RRI.co.id.
Meanwhile, the Human Resources Director stated that the award serves as proof of the company's commitment to responsible and sustainable business practices.
"This PRISMA award serves as both motivation and a commitment for PT Timah to ensure that business activities are not only profit-oriented, but also respect and protect human rights," he said.
The award further strengthens PT Timah Tbk's commitment as a company that not only focuses on business growth, but also on social responsibility and respect for human values. This is in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in promoting justice, equality, and the protection of fundamental human rights. (*)
