President of the Republic Vahagn Khachaturyan received the credentials of the newly appointed Ambassador of the Sovereign Order of Malta to Armenia, Marco Romoli.
The President congratulated the Ambassador on assuming his post and wished him success in carrying out his responsible mission.
The newly appointed Ambassador thanked the President for the reception and good wishes, noting that during his mission he would make every effort to further strengthen and expand bilateral relations.
During the meeting, the sides touched upon the friendly relations established between the Republic of Armenia and the Sovereign Order of Malta, emphasizing that they are based on deep Christian roots, historical ties, and universal values.
It was highlighted that the traditions of mutual respect and cooperation formed as far back as the period of the Crusades continue to serve as a solid foundation for the ongoing development of bilateral relations.
President Khachaturyan highly appreciated the humanitarian activities and global mission of the Sovereign Order of Malta aimed at protecting faith and supporting vulnerable groups. In this context, the importance of the assistance provided to Armenia by the Order at various times was also emphasized, particularly the humanitarian and medical aid delivered to vulnerable groups of the Armenian population following the 44-day war.
During the conversation, the sides also discussed opportunities to expand cooperation in the fields of healthcare and humanitarian affairs. They stressed the importance of implementing joint medical programs, professional exchange initiatives, and promoting projects aimed at strengthening healthcare capacities, especially with the involvement of regional and vulnerable communities.
The meeting also highlighted the significance of the cooperation agreement between the Republic of Armenia and the Sovereign Order of Malta, which serves as a basis for the effective implementation of joint programs in the humanitarian, medical, and healthcare sectors.
President Vahagn Khachaturyan reaffirmed his invitation to Fra' John Dunlap, the Grand Master of the Sovereign Order of Malta, to visit Armenia, noting that such reciprocal visits play an important role in further strengthening bilateral relations and shaping new areas of cooperation.
