Congressman Maxwell Frost Statement on Kristi Noem Firing

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Congressman Maxwell Alejandro Frost (FL-10) released a statement in response to President Trump's announcement that Kristi Noem has been fired and that Senator Markwayne Mullin will serve as the new Secretary of Homeland Security.

In a statement, Rep. Frost says:

"Kristi Noem will go down in history as a bigot who oversaw a DHS that killed American citizens and brutalized immigrant communities.

"But her firing doesn't fix the crisis at DHS. We're now on day 19 of a shutdown, and Democrats still have serious demands of this administration to reign in an out of control agency.

"Replacing her with Markwayne Mullin doesn't address any of the problems. As Secretary, I can almost guarantee that he will continue the chaos and cruelty. His nomination is unserious and I hope it's defeated in the Senate."
