Newsweek Ranks CSUDH as the #1 Online School for 2025

Recognized for its wide range of high-quality degree and credential programs, CSUDH was ranked first by Newsweek among 250 institutions offering online undergraduate and graduate programs for 2025. This marks the first time CSUDH has earned Newsweek's number one spot, reflecting the university's growing reputation as a leader in accessible, flexible, and innovative higher education.

Newsweek's rankings were based on a survey of more than 10,000 U.S. individuals who have taken online courses to earn academic degrees or to acquire skills for career advancement. Schools were evaluated on factors such as program organization, student support, affordability, reputation, success rates, recommendations, practical relevance, and overall satisfaction.

"This recognition highlights CSUDH's commitment to student success and its dedication to meeting the evolving needs of today's learners," said Kim McNutt, Dean of CSUDH's College of Continuing and Professional Education (CCPE).

In partnership with CSUDH's five other colleges, CCPE offers seven master's degrees tailored to working professionals seeking career growth, economic mobility, and salary increases. Additionally, CCPE provides two bachelor's degree completion programs for transfer students or individuals aiming to finish a previously started degree. The college also features 34 certificate programs designed to equip students with workforce-ready skills for career transitions and lifelong learning. Through Open University, Winter Session, May Intersession, and Summer Session, CSUDH faculty offer myriad online courses for year-round access to education.

"Our strengths are our excellent instruction and the expertise of our faculty, many of whom are respected industry practitioners dedicated to giving back to their fields," McNutt said. "Moreover, we offer affordable tuition with no hidden fees, so students receive a top-tier education without unexpected costs."

"Our programs emphasize convenience and practicality, delivering skills that meet the needs of Southern California's workforce and employers."
