Speaker Heastie and Assemblymember Carroll Announce More Than $2.8 Million for First Responders in Rockland County

Speaker Carl Heastie continued his annual statewide tour today in Rockland County with Assemblymember Patrick Carroll, meeting with four of the ambulance corps in the 96th District at the New City Volunteer Ambulance Corporation and Rescue Squad facility and announcing a total of $2.835 million to address challenges facing local first responders.

"Volunteer ambulance corps provide critical emergency medical and rescue services to the local community, and it was great to learn about the incredible work they do every day," said Speaker Heastie. "I was glad to join Assemblymember Carroll today to see these vital resources that have been an integral part of the community for decades."

"I thank Speaker Heastie for being here today to see the work of these great organizations," said Assemblymember Carroll. "I will always work hard to ensure our front-line emergency professionals have the resources they need to do their jobs."

Speaker Heastie and Assemblymember Carroll visited the New City Volunteer Ambulance Corporation and Rescue Squad facility, which has provided emergency medical services in the community for decades. The New City Ambulance Corp hosted four ambulance corps from the 96th Assembly District (New City, Nanuet, Congers and Haverstraw), and together they announced a total of $2.835 million in state funding for affordable housing and to address challenges facing first responders such as dated vehicles and service equipment.

The funding includes $950,000 for Nyack General Fire Protection Company No. 2 and their affordable housing renovation, $525,000 for Congers Ambulance Corp, $415,000 for New City Ambulance Corp, $380,000 for Thiells Fire Department, $375,000 for Haverstraw Ambulance Corp and $190,000 for Nanuet Ambulance Corp.
