Eskenazi Health Awarded Get with the Guidelines (GWTG) Recognitions by The American Heart Association

The Eskenazi Health Stroke Center was recently recognized for the seventh consecutive year by the American Heart Association with the Get with the Guidelines - Stroke Gold Plus with Target: Stroke Elite Honor Roll and Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll. This is also the third time the stroke department has been awarded elite status for the Target: Stroke Honor Roll.

The Get with the Guidelines Gold recognition represents 85% compliance for 24 consecutive months or more on their achievement measures, which include IV thrombolysis, early antithrombotics, VTE prophylaxis, antithrombotics, anticoagulation for AFib, smoking cessation and intensive statin. The Target: Stroke Elite Honor Roll represents achieving 85% of patients experiencing door to needle times of 60 minutes or less, and the Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll signifies greater than 80% compliance for the overall diabetes cardiovascular initiative composite score criteria for 12 consecutive months.

Eskenazi Health was also recognized by the American Heart Association with the Get with the Guidelines (GWTG) - Resuscitation Gold Award. The GWTG - Resuscitation Gold recognition represents at least 85% compliance for 24 consecutive months or more on their achievement measures, which include confirmation of airway device placement in trachea, time to first defibrillation within 2 minutes for cardiac arrests due to shockable rhythms and ensuring a monitored or witnessed cardiac arrest.

The Target: Survival represents achieving adjusted survival rate among the top 40% of participating hospitals, and the TARGET: CPR signifies abstract cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) quality data, such as rate, depth and chest compression fraction, for 50% or more of all cardiopulmonary arrest (CPA) events.
