Community members invited to contribute to a special quilt celebrating America 250

As part of Mission Viejo's yearlong celebration of America 250, the City is creating a new community quilt to commemorate this historic milestone.

Through individual quilt blocks created by community members, this project celebrates patriotism while capturing the unique spirit of Mission Viejo. Together, the blocks will create a one-of-a-kind work of art featuring the colors of red, white, and blue.

Thanks to the recent addition of sewing machines through the EmPOWERing Access Project, the Mission Viejo Library is expanding opportunities for community members to learn basic quilting skills. Quilting has long been a sustainable craft transforming fabric scraps into meaningful works. That same vision inspired this community quilt - as participants are encouraged to repurpose fabric scraps featuring red, white, and blue to create their quilt blocks.

The completed quilt will be unveiled in November, and the community is invited to celebrate another chapter in Mission Viejo's history.
