Dollar General Honored with Progressive Grocer Impact Award

Dollar General has been recognized by Progressive Grocer with an Impact Award in the Food Security / Nutritional Leadership category. The honor underscores DG's ongoing commitment to addressing food insecurity and expanding access to nutritional food options in the communities it serves.

With approximately 75% of the U.S. population living within five miles of a Dollar General store, and 80% of those stores serving communities of 20,000 or fewer people, DG is uniquely positioned to make a meaningful impact through the access it provides to everyday essentials. Though not a traditional grocer, DG has responded to hundreds of requests from customers and local officials to provide fresh food in underserved areas.

In 2021, DG announced plans to increase the availability of fresh produce, and by January 2024, the Company surpassed its milestone of offering produce in 5,000 stores, more individual points of produce distribution than any other U.S. mass retailer or grocer. As of Q2 2025, DG offers fresh fruit and vegetables in more than 7,000 stores. DG also announced the addition of more than 100 new private brand food products, providing affordable alternatives for customers, earlier this year.

Beyond Dollar General's retail efforts to expand food access, the Company celebrated its fifth-year partnership anniversary with Feeding America, which helps address national food insecurity through the donation of more than $5 million since 2021, and more than 60 million meals through in-kind donations.

Progressive Grocer's Impact Awards recognize companies making innovative and measurable moves, and environmental, social and governance efforts. The 2025 Impact Award marks the second time DG has been recognized by Progressive Grocer. In 2022, DG was honored in the Educational Support / Learning Advancement category for its continuous support of literacy and education initiatives through the Dollar General Literacy Foundation (DGLF).

From expanding fresh produce offerings to fostering critical partnerships, Dollar General remains deeply invested in the health and well-being of the communities it calls home.
