Honda returned to the podium at the Racing Capital of the World as MMG scored an important third-place finish in the penultimate round of the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge season-the Indianapolis Motor Speedway 120. Karl Wittmer and LP Montour, commanding the #93 MMG Honda Civic Type R TCR, have now taken control of the drivers' and teams' championship standings with a total of 2,550 points, sitting just 10 points ahead of their closest rivals on the leaderboard.
After qualifying third on the grid the day prior, the #93 Honda ran a clean and composed race, free from errors on track or in pit lane. An early caution period opened the door for fuel-only service while leading, setting up MMG for a straightforward run to the finish. From there, Wittmer and Montour executed perfectly, managing tire wear amid rising temperatures while keeping their championship competitors in sight.
After cycling through multiple restarts and heavy GS class traffic, Wittmer dropped as low as fifth when he was forced to avoid contact with a rival. Nevertheless, he remained undeterred and recovered in the final minutes. In the closing laps, Wittmer launched a decisive attack, making a dramatic but effective last-lap move on his nearest championship challenger to snatch the final podium spot. The result not only secured third place at the line, but also handed the #93 crew the championship lead heading into the season finale.
Elsewhere in the Honda camp, the #5 KMW Motorsports with TMR Engineering Honda Civic of William Tally and Tim Lewis enjoyed a return to form, running solidly inside the top eight for most of the event and ultimately finishing fifth.
The HART #89 Civic Type R TCR was also on pace for a strong result, climbing into the top seven late in the race before contact from another car derailed their effort. Chad Gilsinger and Tyler Chambers would come home P9.

Quotes
Karl Wittmer (#93 MMG Honda Civic Type R TCR) Finished third: "I managed my tires early on in my stint and I knew the car would be stronger at the end of the race. With five minutes remaining I was thinking 'okay, we got three laps, where can I get them?' And I clearly knew it was either Turn 1 or 7. On the last lap, I came out, had a good run, and committed early in the brake zone. I don't know what happened. We connected but kept racing. It was clean apart from that, but I just went home with it! The Honda was strong, MMG and JAS Motorsport gave us a great car. Pumped to be at Indianapolis and get on the podium."
LP Montour (#93 MMG Honda Civic Type R TCR) Finished third: "We're 10 points ahead in the championship, so I'm pretty happy with that! I aged 10 years just watching Karl on the last lap making the pass in Turn 1. That was a stellar move. I think we had a great championship race today. We played it very well, remained patient in traffic with the GS cars and it paid off."
