WASHINGTON, D.C., 09/03/2026 - Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of America (WSWA) today released the following statement following President Trump signing a government funding bill, delaying a ban on hemp THC products:
President Trump has signed the bill delaying the new federal hemp-derived THC restrictions from November 12 to December 11, giving Congress one month to get regulation right.
The Beverage Regulatory Parity Act is ready to move. It would set clear national standards while leaving states fully in control of whether and how these products are sold. It also bans synthetic cannabinoids.
Consumers deserve to know what's in these products, who made and sold them, where they came from and whether they meet consistent safety standards. These are not loopholes. They are guardrails. Without a federal baseline, no one can tell which products meet safety standards and which don't.
Congress should use this month to pass the Beverage Regulatory Parity Act and bring clarity, accountability and consumer protections to the marketplace.
