Wednesday, 11 March 2026
MP and member of the Serbian delegation to the Council of Europe Vladimir Djordjevic is taking part in the meeting of the Committee on Migration, Refugees and Displaced Persons, taking place in Paris on 11 March, where he was elected Vice-Chairperson of the Sub-Committee on Migrant Smuggling and Trafficking in Human Beings.
This body deals with one of the most serious security challenges in Europe - the organised crime behind migrant smuggling and human trafficking.
"Migrant smuggling and human trafficking are not abstract political topics, but a serious security challenge. Concrete and effective measures are needed to combat the criminal networks that profit from it," said Djordjevic after the election.
He stressed that he would push for strengthening cooperation between states and developing more efficient mechanisms to combat the criminal structures that abuse migration flows.
The election to this position is a significant recognition for Serbia within the Council of Europe and confirmation that representatives of our country can actively participate in resolving important security issues at the European level.
