Cline announces funding for I-81 improvements

July 18, 2025 | Linden Kiser - Virginia Sixth District Congressman Ben Cline announced Thursday that the Fiscal Year 2026 Transportation, Housing and Urban Development bill passed by the House Appropriations Committee includes funding for improvements to Interstate 81.

According to a media release, 17-million dollars has been set aside to support key upgrades and potential widening along the corridor.

More than 12-million commercial trucks travel along the I-81 each year, moving over 300-billion dollars in goods.

Cline, who is a member of the Appropriations Committee, stated he is proud to deliver federal dollars to modernize the highway to support on-time delivery and reduce disruptions that hurt both local businesses and national commerce.
