Indigenous game of snow snake featured March 7 at Pembina State Museum

PEMBINA, N.D. - Learn about and play the Indigenous game of snow snake Saturday, March 7, from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Pembina State Museum. Similar to ice gliders, the game features a "snake" carved from a long wooden pole or stick that is thrown across icy ground to see whose travels the farthest. This free event is for those ages 6 and older. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Museum staff have several snow snakes and a track prepared for the event. Free hot chocolate will be available to keep players warm. Held on the back lawn, the program is outdoors and dependent on the weather. Check our Facebook page in the event of inclement weather.
The Pembina State Museum, located at 805 Highway 59, Pembina, is managed by the State Historical Society of North Dakota.
