Nevada County - Caltrans is reminding motorists of various lane closures in multiple locations along State Route 20 (SR 20) and State Route 49 (SR 49) as several projects continue in Nevada County.

Here is the breakdown for next week:

SR 20 Projects:
  • Pavement Rehabilitation Project
    • No lane closures scheduled.
    • Project has been winterized for the season, with work expected to resume in spring 2027.
  • Yuba Pass Separation Overhead Bridge Project
    • Eastbound SR 20 is scheduled to be closed from 8 p.m. Monday, November 9 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, November 10 for concrete deck pours.
    • Drivers looking to connect to Interstate 80 (I-80) can detour southbound on SR 49 to connect with I-80 in Auburn or eastbound on State Route 174 to connect with I-80 in Colfax. Large trucks are directed to only use SR 49.
    • The SR 20 on-ramp to westbound I-80 remains closed until further notice due to bridge construction activities.
SR 49 Projects:
  • Corridor Improvement Project between McKnight Way and La Barr Meadows/Allison Ranch Road
    • Various ramp closures are scheduled at the McKnight interchange between 8 p.m. Sunday, November 8 and 6 a.m. Monday, November 9.
    • One-way traffic control is scheduled from 8 p.m. Sunday, November 8 to 6 a.m. Monday, November 9 and from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday, November 9 through Thursday, November 12. Lane closures are scheduled to end for the week at 6 a.m. Friday, November 13.
    • Due to the traffic shift, driveway access on the west side of SR 49 between Bethel Church Way and Crestview Drive will be detoured using the old alignment as a frontage road until the driveway is conformed to the new alignment. Access will be maintained for local traffic during this time with flaggers and a pilot car.

The extended lane closures will help minimize the duration of the work and improve worker safety. The schedule is subject to change or may be delayed due to weather, availability of materials or other unexpected events.

Caltrans District 3 is responsible for maintaining and operating 4,385 lane miles in 11 Sacramento Valley and Northern Sierra counties. Caltrans reminds motorists to "Be Work Zone Alert" and slow in construction zones for the safety of travelers and crews performing these improvements.
