Nareit Names Cameron Arterton as Deputy Executive Vice President of Policy & Public Affairs

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Oct. 1, 2024) - Nareit has named Cameron Arterton as Deputy Executive Vice President of Policy & Public Affairs to serve as a senior member of the Nareit team and to engage with policymakers about the benefits of REITs and their role in supporting economic growth. She will facilitate the development of advocacy strategies and policy responses, engage with policymakers, and ensure effective communication with external stakeholders and Nareit members.

Commenting on Arterton's appointment, Nareit's President & CEO Steven A. Wechsler said, "Cameron's extensive experience in tax policy and deep understanding of legislative and regulatory processes makes her highly qualified to take on this role. Her expertise will be invaluable as we continue to inform policymakers about the benefits of the REIT approach to real estate investing. We are thrilled to have her as a member of the team."

With more than two decades of experience, Arterton joins Nareit after seven years with the Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO), where she most recently was vice president of emerging companies and capital formation and previously vice president of tax policy. Prior to BIO, Arterton was of counsel at Steptoe & Johnson LLP, after spending four years at the Department of Treasury in the role of deputy tax legislative counsel. Before her time at Treasury, Cameron was Ways and Means counsel for Congressman Lloyd Doggett (D-TX) and an associate at Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson, LLP. Earlier in her career, after graduating from law school, she clerked for the Honorable Henry H. Kennedy on the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.

Arterton received a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law and a bachelor's degree in government and Japanese from Connecticut College. She is a member of the bar in the District of Columbia and Massachusetts.
