Moulton Joins As An Original Cosponsor Of The Transgender Bill of Rights

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Seth Moulton (MA-06) today joined as an original cosponsor of the Transgender Bill of Rights, a resolution offered by Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal (WA-07) that provides a comprehensive framework for protecting the rights of transgender and non-binary people.

Congressman Moulton has been a proud co-sponsor of this resolution since its original introduction in the 117th Congress. This year's resolution increases focus on President Trump's discriminatory anti-trans executive orders and the need to prevent harm to transgender service members and immigrants.

"In a time when Trump and his Republican enablers act purely out of hatred that further marginalizes and discriminates against transgender Americans, it is more important than ever to reaffirm that transgender Americans deserve the same basic rights and liberties as everyone else," said Congressman Moulton "This resolution is about affirming those basic rights and pushing back against the fear and hatred espoused by the Trump Administration that have no place in our democracy"

The Transgender Bill of Rights is a non-binding resolution that calls for government action to:

  • Ban discrimination based on gender identity and sex characteristics in services and public accommodations.
  • Protect bodily autonomy and expand access to gender affirming health care, abortion, and contraception while banning forced surgery on intersex children.
  • Improve safety by investing in violence prevention, survivor services, mental health care, and banning conversion therapy.
  • Strengthen civil rights enforcement through a dedicated Justice Department liaison focused on transgender civil rights.

The full resolution can be read here.
