City to take part in Week Without Driving and Healthiest State Walk

Cedar Rapids is proud to once again participate in the #WeekWithoutDriving Challenge Sept. 29 through Oct. 4. Week Without Driving invites participants to experience the challenges and experiences faced every day by those who do not drive.

Nearly a third of people in the United States, including individuals with disabilities, young people, and those who cannot afford the cost of car ownership, navigate their lives without personal vehicles. Their experiences show how important it is to have accessible, reliable public transit and safe transportation options for all.

Free rides on Cedar Rapids Transit will be featured throughout the week, as well as a free $5 Veo credit with the code CARFREE25.

Whether participants replace only one trip with an alternative mode of transportation, or commit to not driving all week, they can take the Week Without Driving Pledge to participate and attend events throughout the week. More information, as well as the pledge, can be found here.

We will also hold a 20-minute citywide walk on Wednesday, Oct. 1 at noon in support of The Healthiest State Initiative's 14th Annual Walk. Choose between one of two starting locations: McGrath Amphitheatre (475 1st Street SW) and The History Center (800 2nd Avenue SE). , on Oct. 2. Participants from both locations will walk as a group to Greene Square, where participants will be served a boxed lunch and bottled water courtesy of the Downtown District and MedQuarter.
