2026 CBJ July 4 Holiday Closures and Reminders

July 2, 2026 - FYI

City and Borough of Juneau offices will be closed on Friday, July 3 in observance of the Independence Day holiday. Normal business hours, which are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, will resume on Monday, July 6. Other facilities and services will have the following availability:

Services:

  • Juneau Police Department Officers and Public Safety Dispatchers are available 24/7 all year. Administrative offices will be closed starting Friday, July 3 and re-open on Monday, July 6.
  • The Recycling Center will be open on Friday, July 3 but closed on Saturday, July 4. Household Hazardous Waste will be closed both July 3 and July 4.

Facilities:

  • Dimond Park Aquatic Center will be open 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Friday, July 3 but closed on Saturday, July 4. Augustus Brown pool will be closed both July 3 and July 4. Both pools will re-open with regular hours on Sunday, July 5.
  • Juneau Public Libraries will be closed Friday, July 3 and Saturday, July 4. All libraries will re-open with regular hours on Sunday, July 5. The Valley book drop will remain open on July 3 and 4, while the Downtown and Douglas book drops will be closed until Sunday, July 5 at 12 p.m.
  • Juneau-Douglas City Museum will be closed through the weekend starting Friday, July 3. The museum will re-open with regular hours on Monday, July 6.

Roads:

  • The Douglas Fourth of July Soapbox Derby for Kids will take place on July 3 and 4. Starting July 3 at 4 p.m., St. Ann's Avenue from Summers Street to 3rd Street will be closed to vehicular traffic until 9 p.m. on July 4.
  • The Juneau Fourth of July parade will begin at 11 a.m. on July 4 at the Department of Labor building on West 8th Street. From 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., several streets in downtown Juneau will be closed to vehicular traffic. "No Parking" signs in these areas will be in effect from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • The Douglas Fourth of July parade will begin at 2 p.m. on July 4. Starting at 1:45 p.m. and ending when the parade is over, Douglas Highway will be closed at Capital View Court. "No Parking" signs on 2nd, 3rd, and 4th streets will be in effect.

Harbors:

  • The Statter Harbor, Auke Bay, office will be open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Friday, July 3 and Saturday, July 4. Statter Harbor field staff can be reached after hours at 907-321-0935 or VHF Radio.
  • The Port Field Office will be open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Friday, July 3 and Saturday, July 4. Dock field staff can be reached after hours at 907-321-4926 or VHF radio.
  • The Port Director's Office will be closed Friday, July 3.
  • The Aurora Harbor Office will be closed Saturday, July 4. Aurora field staff can be reached after hours at 907-321-1115 or VHF radio.
  • The Douglas Harbor launch ramp will be congested due to the holiday and use of the ramp may be restricted.

Don't forget that personal fireworks are not permitted on the Downtown Seawalk or any CBJ-owned waterfront property.
