Special Envoy Zhai Jun of the Chinese Government on the Middle East Issue Meets with Ambassador of Türkiye to China Selçuk Ünal

On September 11, 2025, Special Envoy Zhai Jun of the Chinese Government on the Middle East Issue met with Ambassador of Türkiye to China Selçuk Ünal at the latter's request. The two sides exchanged views on bilateral relations and the situation in the Middle East.

Zhai Jun said that the successful meeting between President Xi Jinping and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan during the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit in Tianjin had charted the course for the development of bilateral relations under the new circumstances. At present, the situation in the Middle East is undergoing complex and profound changes, with hotspot issues flaring up in turn. China is ready to work with Türkiye to support the resolution of conflicts and disputes through dialogue and negotiation and promote the early realization of peace and stability in the region.

Selçuk Ünal said that Türkiye attaches great importance to its relations with China and is willing to actively implement the common understandings reached at the Tianjin meeting between the two heads of state, deepen practical cooperation, enhance collaboration on international and regional affairs, and promote greater development of the strategic cooperative relationship between the two countries. Türkiye appreciates China's active and important role in promoting the political settlement of regional hotspot issues and is willing to strengthen communication and coordination with China to make unremitting efforts to ease the regional situation.
