The 2026 Mercy Health Glass City Marathon, Owens Corning Half Marathon, Savage 5K, North Star Bluescope 5-Person Marathon Relay and Nationwide Children's Toledo Kids Race are scheduled this weekend with the finish line at The University of Toledo's Glass Bowl.
Organized by the Toledo Roadrunners Club, this year's events are expected to affect traffic on and near Main Campus on Saturday and Sunday, April 25 and 26. Several parking areas on campus also will be impacted beginning Thursday, April 23, through the end of the weekend.
Students, faculty, staff and visitors who may be traveling on or around campus in the coming
days are asked to plan for disruptions due to marathon events and traffic.
Parking Areas Affected by Mercy Health Glass City Marathon
• Thursday, April 23: Area 10 closed starting at 8 p.m.
• Friday, April 24: Area 10 closed. Areas 1N, 1S, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 require no permits.
• Saturday, April 25: Area 10 closed. Areas 1N, 1S, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 require no permits.
• Sunday, April 26: Area 10 closed. No permits required to park on Main Campus.
Road Closures for Saturday, April 25
• Eastbound Bancroft Street: Closed from 5 a.m. Saturday until 1 p.m. Sunday between Secor Road and Westwood Avenue.
• Bancroft Street (Start Line): Closed from 7 to 10 a.m. from Secor Road to Westwood Avenue, and from 8:30 to 9 a.m. from Orchard Road to Secor Road.
• Secor Road: Closed from 8:30 to 9 a.m. from Bancroft Street to West Towerview Boulevard.
• Douglas Road: Closed from 8:30 to 9:15 a.m. at East Rocket Drive.
• Westwood Avenue: Closed from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. from Oakwood Avenue to Bancroft Street.
• The University of Toledo Campus: Various road closures from 8:30 to noon, including West Towerview Boulevard, West Rocket Drive, East Rocket Drive, North Towerview Boulevard and Stadium Drive (closed until noon).
Road Closures for Sunday, April 26
Sylvania Road Closures
The following streets will be closed to traffic on Sunday between 7:30 and 11:30 a.m. as runners pass through the area:
• Sylvania Avenue: Eastbound traffic closed from King Road to Corey Road.
• King Road: No eastbound turn to Sylvania Avenue.
• Sylvania Avenue: No eastbound traffic from King Road to Holland-Sylvania Road.
• Farmbrook: Roads throughout the Farmbrook neighborhood closed. Sylvania Township Police will be patrolling to help residents depart if required.
• McCord Road: Intersections at Sylvania Avenue and the University/Parks Trail will be closed to inbound traffic.
• Holland-Sylvania Road: Intersections at Sylvania Avenue and the University/Parks Trail will be closed to inbound traffic.
• Corey Road: Closed to southbound traffic from Sylvania Avenue to Central Avenue.
Ottawa Hills Road Closures
The following streets will be closed to traffic on Sunday between 6:30 and 11 a.m. as runners pass through the area:
• Saturday: Bancroft Street closed from 7 to 9 am. from Orchard Road to University Hills Boulevard.
• Bancroft Street (Sunday): Closed from 4 to 11 a.m. between Secor Road and University Hills Boulevard. Closed from 6:30 to 10 a.m. from the University/Parks Trail to Secor Road.
• Indian Road: Closed from 6:30 to 9 a.m. from Talmadge Road to Secor Road.
• Ottawa Hills Intersections: Various roads within Ottawa Hills closed from 6:30 to 9:15 a.m. between Talmadge Road and Exmoor Drive.
• Talmadge Road: Closed from 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. between Indian Road and Bancroft Street.
• Exmoor Drive: Closed from 7 to 9:15 a.m.
• Central Avenue: Closed from 7 to 9:15 a.m. from Reynolds Road to Corey Road.
• Richards Road: Closed to northbound traffic from Dorr Street from 7:15 a.m. to noon. Southbound traffic is allowed.
• Hasty Road: Closed from 7:15 to 10 a.m. from Damascus Road to Talmadge Road.
• Egress: Roads south of Bancroft Street will have eastbound egress to Edgevale Road available.
Toledo Road Closures
The following streets will be closed to traffic on Sunday between 4 and 11 a.m. as runners pass through the area:
• Bancroft Street (Half Marathon, Marathon and Relay Start Line): Closed from 4 to 11 a.m. from Secor Road to University Hills Boulevard, and from 6:15 to 8:30 a.m. from Secor Road to Parkside Boulevard.
• Dorr Street: Closed in both directions from 6:15 to 7:15 a.m. between Douglas Road and Parkside Boulevard.
• Parkside Boulevard: Southbound lane closed from 6:30 to 7:15 a.m.
• Douglas Road: Closed from 6:15 to 8:30 a.m. from Pelham Road to Dorr Street.
• Richards Road: Closed to northbound traffic from Dorr Street from 7:15 to 11 a.m. Southbound traffic is allowed.
• I-475 Corey Road Exit: Closed from 7:45 to 11 a.m.
• Corey Road: Closed from 8:15 to 10:45 a.m. between Sylvania Avenue and Central Avenue.
University of Toledo Main Campus Road Closures
The following streets will be closed to traffic on Sunday between 6:15 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. as runners pass through the area:
• Stadium Drive will close at 6:15 m. and is expected to reopen by 1:30 pm.
• North Towerview Drive will close at 6:20 m. Around 10:30 a.m., traffic will be permitted to travel north on North Towerview Boulevard and turn either east on West Bancroft Street or continue north on University Hills Boulevard to Douglas Road.
• West Rocket Drive and West Towerview Boulevard will close from 6:20 to 10:30 m. After 10:30 a.m., travel southbound on West Rocket Drive will be closed at the University Parks Trail until the end of the race, but westbound to Secor Road and northbound West Rocket Drive from West Towerview Boulevard will both be open.
• South Towerview Boulevard and East Rocket Drive will close at 8 m.
• Traffic entering campus from Dorr Street will be permitted to travel west on West Rocket Drive to College Drive and into Area 25. East Rocket Drive will remain closed until approximately 1:30 p.m. West Rocket Drive will be closed to all northbound travel at University Parks Trail until the end of the race.
• East Rocket Drive and Douglas Road will shut down at 6:20 a.m. At about 8:15 a.m., Douglas Road should reopen for traffic, but there will be no entry onto campus from Douglas Road until approximately 1:30 m.
