Rep. Mullin’s Statement on San Diego Islamic Center Shooting

San Francisco, CA - My heart goes out to the victims of the devastating shooting at the Islamic Center of San Diego, and I am keeping the victims, their families, and the entire community in my thoughts. No one should ever have to fear for their safety when gathering in a place of worship, and acts of hate and violence like this have no place in our society.

Security Guard Amin Abdullah was incredibly brave and gave his life to help protect countless others, and I commend the swift response from local law enforcement and first responders.

We must stand together against Islamophobia and all forms of hate, and Congress must take meaningful action to strengthen protections for places of worship and address the epidemic of gun violence through stronger gun safety laws.
