Lisa Conley-KendziorAnna Vakulick has been named interim vice provost for information technology (IT) at the George Washington University, effective April 1, as Geneva Henry returns full-time to her role as dean of libraries and academic innovation (LAI) after several years leading GW Information Technology.
Vakulick currently serves as GW's deputy chief information officer and has more than 20 years of experience in higher education information technology and enterprise systems leadership.
Henry has served in the dual role of vice provost for Libraries and Information Technology and dean of Libraries and Academic Innovation since 2022. During that time, GW IT advanced major initiatives, including Banner modernization, expanded cloud services, development of the GW Data Lake and the launch of a university-wide Zoom platform to streamline communications and collaboration.
"Dean Henry's expertise in IT has been invaluable over the past several years, and she has positioned Anna and the organization for great success in this transition," Interim Provost John Lach said. "I look forward to welcoming Anna to the senior provost leadership team and to many more years working with Dean Henry on libraries and academic innovation."

"I've had a foot in two different camps, and there are areas I'm looking forward to diving into more deeply as I return full time to Libraries and Academic Innovation," Henry said.
Henry said Vakulick's experience and leadership will support a smooth transition.
"Anna is incredible," Henry said. "She's highly collaborative, well known and respected throughout the organization and across campus. She brings great experience, expertise and a genuine understanding of GW."
During her six years at GW, Vakulick said she has worked closely with Henry and colleagues across the university to strengthen GW's technology foundation and support major initiatives.
"Stepping into this interim role is a continuation of my service to this community," Vakulick said. "I am honored to lead GW IT, and I am committed to being a trusted partner who enables creativity, discovery and academic excellence."
As interim vice provost for information technology, Vakulick will oversee GW IT and support the university's teaching, learning, research and administrative missions.
"My priority is to continue the momentum of ongoing projects with clarity and focus while building a technology roadmap that aligns with the university's strategic framework," Vakulick said.
Vakulick said her experience as deputy CIO has helped prepare her to lead GW IT.
"It has given me a deep understanding of GW's technology landscape and allowed me to build partnerships across campus," she said.
Vakulick and Henry are working together on transition planning ahead of the April 1 leadership change.
