Occident launches a new corporate travel insurance policy to strengthen protection for companies and professionals during business trips

"The new corporate category is designed to meet the needs of people who travel regularly for work"

Occident has introduced its new Corporate Travel insurance category, a solution specifically designed to meet the needs of companies, professionals, and organisations whose teams travel for work-related purposes. With this launch, the company expands and updates its Travel product, reinforcing its commitment to offering more comprehensive, adaptable protection that reflects new patterns of professional mobility. In 2024, the business travel sector in Spain experienced significant growth, with a 7% rise and a 1.7% increase in the number of travellers (10.54 million in total). It is estimated that nearly half of Spanish companies increased their travel budgets during the year, according to a report by the Spain Convention Bureau.

The new corporate category is designed to meet the needs of people who travel regularly for work, such as representatives, commercial agents, teams attending trade fairs or conferences, and employees temporarily posted abroad. To cover the different types of travel, Occident offers three purchase tiers: a temporary option for occasional travel, an annual short-stay option for trips of up to 90 days, and an annual long-stay option designed for trips lasting more than 90 days and up to a maximum of 365 days.

The product update includes significant enhancements in insured sums and coverage. Medical expenses abroad have been substantially increased, with unlimited insured sums in the temporary and short-stay options, and a limit of up to €5 million in the long-stay category. Among the most relevant improvements is the coverage for sending a professional replacement, which ensures business continuity if the insured suffers an incident during the trip. In addition, coverage related to pre-existing conditions is now included-both for medical expenses and medical transport-removing the need for an additional module.

"With this update, Occident significantly strengthens its value proposition in the field of travel insurance, offering solutions tailored to all traveller profiles and ensuring a safe and well-supported experience on any professional trip. The company thereby reaffirms its commitment to supporting businesses and workers in a context where mobility remains essential to the conduct of their activity", says Occident's Director of Personal Insurance, Sergio López.

Occident updated its Travel insurance in mid-2025, incorporating new options, increasing insured sums, and reinforcing key coverage to offer clients more comprehensive and personalised protection. Key improvements include the increase in medical expenses-now reaching €1.5 million in the Exclusive option-the creation of the Essential Travellers option with €150,000 of coverage, and the extension of specific guarantees for cruises. Additionally, trip cancellation and interruption coverage has been reinforced, and courtesy services such as legal advice and telephone medical assistance-highly valued by clients-are maintained.
