On March 25, The Top 10 Scientific Advances of 2025 in China were unveiled at the opening ceremony of the Zhongguancun Forum. The achievement "Chang'e-6 samples reveal the evolutionary history of the Moon's far side and the effects of large-scale impacts for the first time", with Nanjing University participated, is selected.
The 2025 selection process began with more than 150 experts and scholars in relevant fields, nominating 30 candidate advances from over 600 basic research achievements. A total of more than 3,000 experts, including over 480 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, participated in an online real-name vote to select 10 advances. The final list was subsequently reviewed and approved by the advisory committee of the National Natural Science Foundation of China.
Since its launch in 2005, the Top 10 Scientific Advances in China selection has been held for 21 editions. It aims to showcase major breakthroughs in China's basic research, inspire scientists to push the frontiers of science and produce more original achievements, and foster greater public understanding, interest, and support for fundamental research.
