Dallas ISD launches new traffic safety unit
As the 2025-2026 school year begins, the Dallas ISD Police Department launched its first dedicated traffic enforcement unit to improve safety during peak drop-off and pickup times. Officers, identifiable by red uniforms, will monitor school zones for speeding, distracted driving, and enforce bus stop laws. By increasing visibility and promoting safe driving habits, the unit aims to protect students, families, and staff during high-traffic periods.

Tomorrow, Aug. 12, Dallas ISD will welcome more than 140,000 students back to campuses for the first day of school. Superintendent Stephanie Elizalde, Ed.D., will visit Albert C. Black Jr. STEAM Academy to greet students, teachers, and team members and share her well wishes for a successful year ahead.
