Human Factors Principal Scientist, Chason J. Coelho, Ph.D., CSP, CFI, has been appointed as Board Chair of the Evergreen Safety Council (ESC). Dedicated to promoting safety across the country, ESC is a non-profit, non-governmental organization accredited through the American Association of Safety Councils (AASC). The ESC develops and administers safety programs that include courses for pilot car operators, wind industry transport teams, flaggers, traffic control supervisors, forklift operators, and defensive driving.
A member of the ESC Board of Directors since 2021, Dr. Coelho is excited to continue supporting the organization as it executes its mission to help people gain the skills to be safer and more effective while at work and on the road.
"The Evergreen Safety Council has worked tirelessly over several decades to promote a tradition of safety in the Pacific Northwest and beyond," says Dr. Coelho. "I am honored to serve the council in this new role and to be a small part of that extraordinary effort."
Committed to safety and community service, Dr. Coelho is a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), authorized OSHA Outreach Trainer, forklift operator trainer, and Certified Fire Investigator (CFI). He has served in several safety and emergency response roles throughout his careers, including as a certified RiderCoach through the Motorcycle Safety Foundation, licensed motorcycle safety instructor in the state of Washington, and volunteer firefighter, emergency medical technician, and confined space and vehicle rescue technician.
As a human factors, safety, and risk management professional, Dr. Coelho brings deep experience in multiple industries to his new role, including aviation, aerospace, on-shore and off-shore oil and gas, chemical, marine, mining, construction, manufacturing, utilities, wind, and rail transport.
