ACP Response to 2026 Midterm Elections

Nov 4 2026

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The American Clean Power Association (ACP) issued the following statement from CEO Jason Grumet following the 2026 midterm elections:

"The American Clean Power Association congratulates the newly elected members of the next Congress and the leaders elected in states across the country. Voters have made clear that affordable, reliable power is a priority, and our industry is ready to deliver it.

Today, the clean power industry directly employs more than 400,000 Americans, and the U.S. has nearly 388 gigawatts of clean power online - enough to power more than 83 million homes - but we'll need a lot more than that to meet skyrocketing demand. Modernizing our outdated permitting process is key to unlocking over $800 billion in new infrastructure and 350+ gigawatts of new clean energy - keeping prices in check and the lights on at home for families and businesses across the country.

This Congress' work isn't done. ACP looks forward to working with leaders on both sides of the aisle to advance a permitting framework that benefits all Americans."
