(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - The Consumer Healthcare Products Association (CHPA) today issued the following statement regarding leadership changes affecting the regulation of over-the-counter (OTC) medicines at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
"CHPA and its member companies appreciate Dr. Michele's many years of public service overseeing the regulation of OTC medicines. This is important work that benefits millions of Americans each and every day." Said CHPA President & CEO Scott Melville. "Looking ahead, we are encouraged by Commissioner Makary's stated commitment to expanding consumer access to OTC medicines, recognizing that OTC medicines enhance access and reduce the cost of healthcare. We look forward to working with Dr. Michele's successor and the FDA leadership to realize this important public health goal."
