The University of Wyoming Department of Music will host Horizon Duo Thursday, Sept. 26, at 7:30 p.m. in the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts recital hall. The recital is free and open to the public.

Horizon Duo, composed of Claire McCahan, mezzo-soprano, and Barbara Noyes, piano, will perform music by Jean Sibelius, Erich Korngold and Florence Price.

United by a shared love of ambitious projects and theatrical storytelling, McCahan and Noyes first began performing together during their years at the University of Colorado-Boulder (CU). Both accomplished soloists, they have competed in several national and international competitions and have been featured in renowned venues, such as Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall, The Granada Theatre and Hahn Hall in Santa Barbara, Calif.

Drawn to the new music scene in Colorado, Horizon Duo appeared at the Pendulum New Music concert series as well as the CU New Opera Workshop and the Composer Fellows' Initiative.

The duo aims to pursue creative programming focusing on American art song and other contemporary programmatic contemplations.
