"Today thousands of Hindu Albertans, along with friends, neighbours and loved ones will come together to celebrate Holi, the Festival of Colours. This centuries-old celebration marks the arrival of spring and represents an important opportunity to reconnect with community in joy and reflection.

"During the Festival of Colours, people gather outdoors to playfully toss coloured powders (known as gulal), symbolizing the hues of spring and the renewal the season brings. This festival is an opportunity to practice acceptance and forgiveness, and to commit to living in harmony with the earth in the year ahead. By sharing in one another's cultural celebrations, we deepen understanding, foster belonging and build a connected and more prosperous province for all.

"To all those who celebrate, may Holi fill the year ahead with joy and colour.

"Holi Hai!"
