Altoona’s Jonathan Rauch selected AMCC Player of the Week in men’s baseball

Penn State Altoona's Jonathan Rauch, of Pittsburgh, was named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference's Player of the Week or the first time in his collegiate career, when the league office announced its weekly awards on March 16.

LATROBE, Pa. - Penn State Altoona's Jonathan Rauch, of Pittsburgh, was named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference's Player of the Week or the first time in his collegiate career, when the league office announced its weekly awards on March 16.

Rauch had a strong week at the plate for the Lions, as the Penn State Altoona baseball team won four of their six games last week at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational.

In a 12-7 victory against Thomas, Rauch combined to hit 4-for-5 with a walk and three runs, while recording an RBI of two. Two days later, in a tight 9-6 loss to Penn State Abington, Rauch hit 3-for-5 with three runs and an RBI. In a pair of wins over Gordon, Rauch had two hits from five at-bats, two walks, two runs, and one RBI. In a 5-4 victory against Fredonia, Rauch hit 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

On the week, Rauch hit .619 (13-for-21) with nine runs scored, five RBI, three walks, two stolen bases, one double, and one home run. He had a .680 on-base percentage and slugged .810.

Penn State Altoona baseball returns to action on March 21 in an AMCC doubleheader against Penn State Behrend. The first pitch of the conference opener is scheduled for 1 p.m.
