Chinese Ambassador to Tanzania Chen Mingjian Attends the Fifth“China-Tanzania Friendship Cup” Table Tennis Competition

On September 6, the Chinese Embassy hosted the 5th "China-Tanzania Friendship Cup" Table Tennis Competition  successfully in Dar es Salaam, with China Cultural Center in Tanzania as organizer. Chinese Ambassador H.E. Chen Mingjian and Mr. Ephraim Balozi Mafuru, Director General of Tanzania Trade Development Authority, as representative of Tanzanian Minister for Information, Culture, Arts and Sports attended the event.

Ambassador Chen stated in her remarks that the scale and influence of "China-Tanzania Friendship Cup" Table Tennis Competition have continued to expand, which makes it a brand event for China-Tanzania people-to-people exchanges. As this year marks the China-Africa Year of People-to-People Exchanges, it is hoped that participants could take table tennis as a bridge to further deepen the traditional China-Tanzania friendship .

Director General Mafuru said that holding "China-Tanzania Friendship Cup" Table Tennis Competition in China-Africa Year of People-to-People Exchanges is timely and meaningful. Tanzania stands ready to strengthen cooperation in sports and other fields with China to enhance bilateral friendship.

Ambassador Chen also presented training equipment to Tanzania Table Tennis Association. Nearly 130 players from Tanzania Table Tennis Association and all walks of life, Chinese institutions and overseas Chinese community, as well as friends from other countries participated in the competition. Tanzanian mainstream media covered the event.
