On June 25-26, Ambassador Yang Yang led a team to visit Region 5 and 6 of Guyana to deepen practical cooperation between China and Guyana at the local level and convey greetings to overseas Chinese communities. Li Hanqing, Counselor of the Embassy, and some young diplomats accompanied.
During the visit, Ambassador Yang held talks with Mr. David Armogan, Chairman of Region 6, and Ms. Samantha Reid, President of the Berbice Chamber of Commerce and Development Association. She also visited local facilities including a rice processing factory, deep-water port, the GRDB Rice Research Station, and Bath & Enmore Regional Hospital to be delivered by Chinese companies. Ambassador Yang emphasized China's strong commitment to local-level cooperation with Guyana, stating China's readiness to promote more "small yet smart" projects that deliver tangible benefits to people's livelihoods. She further expressed China's willingness to enhance exchanges and cooperation with Region 5 and 6 in agriculture, trade, infrastructure, green economy, and other fields.
Ambassador Yang also met with representatives of local overseas Chinese communities, conveying the care and greetings from the motherland. She urged them to operate with integrity, comply with laws and regulations, strengthen cooperation with local business communities, and contribute to local development within their capacity.
