Students with the Multicultural Student Union host a series of events that immerse attendees in tradition, culture, education, and fun.
BRISTOL, R.I. - The Multicultural Student Union (MSU) is celebrating Black History Month through a series of educational and entertaining events.
On Wednesday, members hosted a Black Cuisine Tasting in the Global Heritage Hall (GHH) Atrium. Students were invited to experience and appreciate traditional Black dishes in a welcoming, community-centered space. The tasting was designed not only to share food but also to foster cultural understanding and connection across campus.
"It's a very effective way of opening people up and exposing them to different cultures because it's a calm and gentle environment catered for everyone to try something new," said MSU President Blessed Adeoye '27.
MSU Treasurer Favored Adeoye '27 added that the event helped "showcase the difference between everything," highlighting the diversity and richness within Black culture.
Organizers emphasized that events like these create inclusive spaces on campus, encourage students to learn through shared experiences, and celebrate the history, traditions, and contributions of Black communities.
The cuisine tasting is one of several events planned throughout the month to honor Black History Month, beginning with a kickoff party and followed by Black History Jeopardy. MSU will continue its celebration with a Jazz and Paint night on Friday, Feb. 18, from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m., in the GHH Atrium. The final event, Black History Bingo, will take place on Feb. 25 from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. in the GHH Atrium.
