City of Buena Park Unveils “Art Brown Metrolink Station” in Honor of Former Mayor Art Brown

On December 17, 2025, the City of Buena Park proudly unveiled the newly renamed Art Brown Metrolink Station, honoring former Mayor Arthur "Art" Brown for more than three decades of influence on Southern California regional transportation and dedicated service to the Buena Park community.

A long-time Buena Park resident, Art Brown has devoted his life to public service. His career began with honorable service in the United States Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps, followed by service as a Los Angeles County Deputy Sheriff.

Mr. Brown was first elected to the Buena Park City Council in 1990 and went on to serve 32 years on the Council, including eight terms as Mayor. Throughout his tenure, he played a pivotal role in guiding the City through growth, infrastructure improvements, and regional collaboration, with a strong emphasis on transportation. His leadership and advocacy helped bring the Buena Park Metrolink Station to fruition in 2007.

"Renaming the Metrolink station in honor of Art Brown is a fitting tribute to a leader whose impact has shaped Buena Park - and the framework of Southern California's transit network - for generations," said Mayor Connor Traut, "His dedication to transportation planning, regional connectivity, and civic service has left a lasting legacy that will continue to benefit our community and region as a whole."

Now designated the Art Brown Metrolink Station, the Buena Park Metrolink Station serves as a key regional transit hub along the Metrolink Orange County Line and 91/Perris Valley Line, providing connections to Los Angeles, Riverside, and neighboring communities. The station has played an important role in reducing traffic congestion, supporting sustainable transportation, and boosting local economic activity by improving access to destinations such as Knott's Berry Farm, Koreatown, and nearby retail centers.

Art Brown's influence extends far beyond the city limits. He has served in numerous regional leadership roles, including as President of the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG), Chair of the Los Angeles-San Diego-San Luis Obispo (LOSSAN) Rail Corridor Agency, Chair of the Metrolink Board of Directors, and Chair of the Orange County Transportation Authority. His leadership has helped advance transportation infrastructure and policy throughout Southern California.

In addition to his official roles, Mr. Brown has been deeply engaged in the Buena Park community, serving as Curator and former Chairman of the Buena Park Historical Society, as well as President of the Buena Park Noon Lions Club. He and his wife, Chris, are also Buena Park's resident Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus.

Dedicating the Metrolink station in his name symbolizes the City's gratitude for Art Brown's commitment to Buena Park and recognizes the lasting impact of his leadership on transportation, public service, and the community.
