Lincoln City Libraries (LCL) invites residents to a program Monday, November 3, featuring Nguyễn Phan Quế Mai, the author of "Dust Child," the 2025 One Book One Lincoln winning selection. The free event will be at 7 p.m. at the Lincoln High School Auditorium, 2229 "J" St. Registration for the event is encouraged. To sign up, visit the events calendar at lincolnlibraries.org or contact your local library at 402-441-8500 for assistance.

"We are honored to welcome Nguyễn Phan Quế Mai to Lincoln and to share her powerful novel 'Dust Child' with our community," said Ryan Wieber, LCL Director. "One Book One Lincoln continues to bring people together around stories that spark conversation, understanding, and a deeper appreciation for the human experience."

Nguyễn will discuss her novel during an in-person interview, followed by a question and answer session. A book signing will take place afterward, with copies of "Dust Child" available for purchase courtesy of Francie & Finch Bookshop. Guests may bring their personal copies for signing.

"Dust Child" is a sweeping saga of family secrets, shifting perspectives and the search for forgiveness. Set against the backdrop of the Vietnam War and its aftermath, the novel follows two sisters who work in Saigon's bars, earning money by spending time with American soldiers. Some of those soldiers father children who are later left behind. Decades later, the past and present collide in a story of a veteran seeking redemption and an Amerasian man searching for a sense of belonging.

The event is cosponsored by the Foundation for Lincoln City Libraries.
