On October 20, 2025, the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of South Carolina entered what is referred to as Phase 2 of a lapse in Congressional appropriations. Applicable law requires the Court limit operations until Congress passes a continuing resolution or appropriations bill.
The Court will continue to hold court hearings as scheduled and perform essential and excepted tasks related to the management of bankruptcy cases. However, Court employees will be furloughed on a rotating basis and the Clerk's Office will not be fully staffed. Therefore, even essential tasks, including the entry of orders and scheduling of hearings, may be delayed until staff required to perform those tasks are available. Applicable authorities inform the Court that staff will work without pay until the lapse in appropriations ends or other relief is provided by appropriating authorities.
The Court's CM/ECF system will be available for electronic filing and research. Electronic Self-Representation (eSR) and the Electronic Document Submission System (EDSS) will be available for pro se filings. We appreciate your patience as the Court works to continue serving the public during this challenging time.
