Green Cove Springs, Fla. - The Clay County Board of Commissioners is now accepting nominations for the Clay County Veteran of the Year 2025 - Presented by VyStar and Clay County Volunteer of the Year 2025 - Presented by VyStar. Nominations will close on Monday, March 16, 2026.
Honorees will be recognized on Saturday, April 25, 2026 during Touch A Truck: Saluting Those Who Serve, a free community event happening at the Clay County Fairgrounds.

The selected veteran will be someone who has demonstrated exceptional service to fellow veterans, their families, and the broader Clay County community. This award honors both military service and continued dedication long after active duty.
Eligibility criteria:
Must be a resident of Clay County, Florida
Must have received a discharge with honorable conditions from the U.S. Armed Forces, including Reserves, National Guard, or Merchant Marines
Demonstrated significant volunteer contributions supporting veterans, the military, their families, and the community
Shows leadership, initiative, and excellence through service
Accomplishments should reflect service within the past ten years
Previous Clay County Veteran of the Year recipients are not eligible
Selection committee includes:
Member of Clay County Veteran Services
Representative from the Veterans Council of Clay County
Clay County commissioner
Representative from the County's Personnel Department
Two volunteers will be recognized across the Volunteer and Youth Volunteer categories for their outstanding commitment to the community.
Eligibility criteria:
Must be a resident of Clay County, Florida
Volunteer hours must be completed within Clay County
Volunteers and youth volunteers: 50 hours
Service must contribute to the betterment of the community
Demonstrates leadership, initiative, and dedication
Volunteer hours must be documented and may be verified
Previous Clay County Volunteer of the Year recipients are not eligible
Selection committee includes:
Clay County Personnel Department manager
Clay County Personnel Department operational manager
Clay County assistant county manager
Clay County commissioner
