Cary, NC - In recognition of National Drinking Water Week, Cary is proud to announce the release of its 2025 Annual Water Quality Report, confirming that the drinking water continues to meet or exceed all federal and state standards.
The report, now available online at carync.gov/waterreport, provides a comprehensive overview of Cary's drinking water quality, including treatment processes, testing results, and ongoing efforts to ensure a safe, reliable, and high-quality water supply.
In 2025, Cary produced more than 8.3 billion gallons of drinking water, all of which met or exceeded regulatory requirements. The report highlights several key initiatives from the past year, including proactive monitoring for emerging contaminants such as per - and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) and 1,4-dioxane. It also summarizes the results of Cary's comprehensive service line inventory, which confirmed the absence of lead service lines in the water system.
Additionally, the report underscores Cary's long-standing commitment to water conservation. Since launching its conservation program in 1996, the community has achieved a 30% reduction in per-person water use, helping to ensure a sustainable water supply for future generations.
"Our team works around the clock to ensure the water delivered to our community is safe, reliable, and of the highest quality," said Jamie Revels, Director of Utilities. "Drinking Water Week is a great opportunity to highlight the dedication of water professionals and to share transparency through our annual report."
