MSU Beavers FC claims third-straight Great Plains title, earns regional berth

MINOT, N.D. - The Minot State University Beavers FC soccer team has once again proven its dominance in the Great Plains Soccer Conference, securing its third consecutive regular season championship and earning an invitation to the Region V Tournament in Omaha, Nebraska, set for Oct. 31 through Nov. 2.

This latest title is a testament to the team's cohesion, talent, and adaptability in a year that brought change and new leadership.

"I am immensely proud of this group," said head coach Adam Daley. "They adapted quickly to a new coaching staff and worked so hard every training session to become conference champions for the third season in a row. I give these boys all the credit for staying loyal to each other and the program. It makes me happy to see them succeed, and I'm grateful to be a part of their soccer journey."

The Beavers' success this season has been powered by standout individual performances, especially from the attacking front. Leading the team in points was Ezra Hagerott, who netted five goals for a total of 10 points, delivering consistent offensive production throughout the season.

Right behind him was Mateo Funes, who contributed three goals and six points, showing a knack for finding the back of the net when it mattered most. Diego Gaytan was the team's creative force, leading the team with five assists. Midfielder Kaiden Campbell added critical versatility with a goal and three assists.

On the defensive end, goalkeeper James Brenner may not have official stat lines to show for his performance, but his presence in net was vital, as he helped secure four clean sheets during the campaign - an impressive feat that speaks volumes about both his skill and the team's collective defensive work.

"Showing up to training sessions and games every day is a joy," said Daley. "It is a fun group to work with, and we make sure to enjoy the process even on hard days."

Minot State Beavers FC now turns its attention to the Region V Tournament in Omaha, where it will face top teams from across the region. While their exact opponent has yet to be determined, the team will be seeded against strong competition from other conference leaders.

"I just want to thank all those who support our program," Daley added. "Thank you, Kevin Harmon (Minot State vice president for student affairs and intercollegiate athletics), for trusting me with this opportunity. Thank you, Jacek Mrozik (MSU vice president for enrollment, marketing, and outreach), for being a huge supporter and advocate for the program. Thank you to Bravera Bank for sponsoring us and allowing this to all be possible. Thank you to Jason Spain (former MSU Beavers FC head coach) for doing an amazing job with this team previously and for making my transition as the new coach much easier. And, finally, thank you to my assistant coach Creighton Bachmeier for your hard work and dedication."

With momentum on their side and a strong core of players leading the charge, Minot State will look to build on its championship legacy and make a deep run in the postseason.

Stay tuned for updates on the Beavers' tournament matchup as they aim to bring home even more hardware this fall.
