CARNEGIE, PA - Today, Congressman Chris Deluzio (PA-17) announced that his office has crossed a major milestone by saving Western Pennsylvania constituents more than $10 million. Between January 2023 (when he first took office) and today, Congressman Deluzio's casework services team has closed more than 2,975 cases for constituents dealing with issues with federal agencies and saved constituents a total of $10,148,422 across 375 cases.
In many cases when constituents are seeking to correct Social Security payments, track down a missing tax refund from the IRS, start Medicare healthcare coverage, or a whole host of other issues with federal agencies-there is a dollar amount per person that Congressman Deluzio's office tracks as dollars saved. In late August, his office crossed the threshold of $10 million saved for Western Pennsylvanians-and he isn't stopping there.
"I'm in this job to help make life better for us in Western Pennsylvania," said Congressman Deluzio. "It may sound old school, but I make sure my team fires on all cylinders to help people get their earned benefits and services from the federal government. Closing 2,978 cases and saving folks more than $10 million in just 32 months is a strong showing that we're getting it done, and we're not slowing down. My office and I are here to serve you."
The federal agencies that Congressman Deluzio's office worked with to return money to constituents included:
Constituent Mary Masa from Shaler Township shared her experience working with Congressman Deluzio's office to get back thousands of dollars in backpay from Social Security Disability Insurance. In a recent video testimonial, she shared that the assistance and positive result was, "beyond gratifying to me that I was able to find someone to listen and help."
Efforts to help constituents with non-financial issues can still have a big impact. For example, Congressman Deluzio's office regularly helps secure earned military medals and recognition for veterans and their families.Furthermore, back in 2023 Congressman Deluzio's office helped a local non-profitquickly obtain the correct IRS status they needed to allow them to get to work serving the community.
Congressman Deluzio's office and his casework services team is available to all constituents residing in Pennsylvania's 17th Congressional District. With offices in Carnegie, Center Township, and Penn Hills, he and his team stand ready to help.
