BROWNVILLE, ME - Today, U.S. Senator Susan Collins attended the Brownville Fire Rescue Association's Appreciation Luncheon, where she was recognized for her support of the local fire department. The luncheon brought together firefighters and town residents to celebrate the contributions of individuals who have helped strengthen the Brownville community.

"It was a pleasure to join Fire Chief Shawn Mitchell and members of the Brownville Fire Rescue Association to recognize those who have made important contributions to the Brownville community," said Senator Collins. "I was honored to be recognized for my efforts to support the Brownville Fire Department and its dedicated first responders. Maine's firefighters and emergency responders put their lives on the line every day to protect their neighbors and keep our communities safe, which is why I have made it a priority to ensure they have the facilities and resources they need to carry out their lifesaving work safely and effectively."

As Chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee, Senator Collins secured $2.77 million in Congressionally Directed Spending through the Fiscal Year 2026 Transportation, Housing and Urban Development Appropriations Act to renovate the Brownville Fire Department's station. A steadfast supporter of Maine's firefighters, Senator Collins has secured nearly $87 million to rehabilitate, expand, or replace 45 fire stations across the State of Maine in the past five years.
