Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong Attends the 'Boao Forum for Asia New Year Outlook 2025' Event

On January 8, 2025, Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong, upon invitation, attended and addressed the "Boao Forum for Asia New Year Outlook 2025" event.

Sun Weidong said that in the past year, China has made great strides forward on the great journey of further deepening reform comprehensively as well as building a great modern socialist country in all respects and achieving national rejuvenation through the Chinese path to modernization. As a member of the international community and a responsible major country, China has actively promoted global governance reform, deepened solidarity and cooperation among the Global South, and made deeper and more substantive advances in high-quality Belt and Road cooperation. The Chinese side has clearly put forward China's propositions on bilateral and multilateral occasions, injected more positive energy and certainty into maintaining world peace and stability and promoting global development and prosperity, and demonstrated its vision and responsibility as a major country.

Sun Weidong pointed out that Asia has become a vital engine driving global economic growth. Against the backdrop of accelerating changes unseen in a century, how to maintain peace and stability in Asia, promote economic development in Asia, deepen exchanges among Asian civilizations, and make the common home Asia a better place requires pooled wisdom, joint contribution and concerted efforts from countries in the region. He expected that the Boao Forum for Asia could gather more "Asian wisdom" to better serve the prosperity and development of Asia and make greater contributions to building a community with a shared future for Asia and mankind.
