Why is Beyond Gravity expanding its production facility in Berndorf, Austria?
The expansion is driven by rapidly growing global demand for electric propulsion pointing mechanisms, particularly from customers in the U.S. and Europe. As satellite constellations and electric propulsion systems scale up, Beyond Gravity is increasing capacity to meet market needs, and strengthening its position as a leading supplier.
What exactly is Beyond Gravity investing in and producing?
Beyond Gravity is investing 4.5 million euros to double its Berndorf facility to approximately 5,000 square meters. The site will produce up to 100 electric propulsion pointing mechanisms annually in this initial phase, including its full APPMAX product family-such as APPMAX3, APPMAX2, and the newly introduced APPMAX2-XS for small satellites. The expansion will also establish Austria's largest space cleanroom and enable serial production for international customers.
How will the expansion improve satellite performance and industry capabilities?
By scaling production of advanced thruster pointing mechanisms, Beyond Gravity enables more precise thrust alignment, reducing propellant waste and improving overall mission efficiency. These mechanisms can extend satellite lifetimes by up to two years and provide a cost-effective solution, especially for larger propulsion systems.
When will the new capacity come online and who benefits from it?
The newly modernized hall will be completed in spring 2027, reaching full production capacity thereafter. The expanded facility will serve global customers, including commercial satellite manufacturers and institutional space programs.
