Groundbreaking Ceremony for Front Street Reconstruction Project

For immediate release: Tuesday, July 29, 2025

Kansas City is holding a groundbreaking ceremony for the Front Street Reconstruction project on Wednesday, July 30, 2025 from 11:00 - 11:30 AM. The project spans along Front Street from Chouteau Trafficway to North Topping Avenue, with southbound lanes of Front Street already shut down for construction.

When: Wednesday, July 30, 2025 from 11:00 - 11:30 AM

Where: In the closed lanes outside Kleen-Rite at 5121 E Front Street

Parking: In the Kleen-Rite parking lot at 5121 E Front Street

Agenda: Remarks will be delivered by City Manager Mario Vasquez, Council members from the 4th district and staff members from Kansas City Public Works. A groundbreaking ceremony will follow those remarks.

Roadway improvements include:

  • Roadway reconstruction
    • Full depth pavement re-construction
    • New curbs, storm sewers, sidewalks, medians, driveway aprons
    • 10' wide trail along north side of Front Street & along the east side of Chouteau Trafficway
    • 6' sidewalk along south side of Front Street
  • New water main paid for by Water Services
  • New stormwater infrastructure
  • New street lights and traffic signals with synchronization

  • Intersection Improvements at Chouteau Trafficway
