PITTSBURGH, PA - JUNE 18, 2026 - Today, Congresswoman Summer L. Lee (PA-12) hosted a packed community town hall in Mt. Washington, filling the senior center to capacity with constituents, community advocates, and local leaders for a conversation about what is happening in Washington, D.C. and how federal decisions are impacting families across Western Pennsylvania.
During the town hall, Lee provided an update on her work in Congress, including her recent appointment to the House Judiciary Committee, her oversight work at Moshannon Valley Detention Center, her efforts to get big money out of politics, and the launch of the People's Environmental Justice Caucus.
Lee also answered written questions from community members on a range of issues, including threats to Social Security, Medicaid, public education, immigrant communities, LGBTQIA+ rights, environmental justice, public health, and the rising cost of living.
"Mt. Washington showed up tonight because our neighbors know that what happens in Washington does not stay in Washington," said Rep. Lee. "It shapes our schools, our jobs, our health care, our environment, and our daily lives. While Donald Trump and his administration are attacking the programs, protections, and rights our communities rely on, people here in Western Pennsylvania are organizing, asking questions, and demanding better. I'm grateful to everyone who came out, raised concerns, and shared what they want to see from their government. Our communities deserve leaders who listen, show up, and fight for the many, not the money."
The town hall was hosted in partnership with the Mt. Washington Community Development Corporation and held at the Mt. Washington Senior Center.
Rep. Lee emphasized the importance of organizing, staying engaged, and holding elected officials accountable as communities across Western Pennsylvania face continued attacks on critical programs, civil rights, public education, environmental protections, and working families.

Rep. Lee continues fighting for Western Pennsylvania families in Congress, from protecting democracy and voting rights, advancing environmental justice, and expanding health access and equity, to standing with workers, protecting critical programs like Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and public education, and standing up to ICE and abusive immigration enforcement.
