On Thursday, March 12, Minister of National Defence, Radu Miruță, and the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, paid a visit to the 86th Air Base "Lieutenant Aviator Gheorghe Mociorniță" in Borcea, Calarasi County.
On this occasion, the two officials met with the staff and students of the European F-16 Training Center in Romania.
The discussions aimed at consolidating support for Ukraine and strengthening defence capabilities on NATO's Eastern Flank.
"President Zelensky's visit to Borcea Air Base emphasizes the close cooperation between Romania and Ukraine in the field of security and defence and sends a clear message of solidarity and coordination between partners in the context of security challenges in the Black Sea region," the Minister of National Defence said.
Today's meeting agenda also included talks on continuing training programs for the Ukrainian pilots, as part of the Allied efforts to strengthen the Ukrainian Air Force capabilities.
The activity was also attended by General Gheorghiță Vlad, Chief of the Defence Staff, and Lieutenant General Leonard Baraboi, Chief of the Air Force Staff.
