LADWP and Linde Celebrate Major Energy Efficiency Milestone Through BOSS Program

LOS ANGELES, CA (March 6, 2026) - The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) joined Linde at its Wilmington facility in January to recognize a major sustainability milestone achieved through a long-standing collaborative partnership.

An LADWP customer since 1967, Linde leveraged LADWP's Business Offerings for Sustainable Solutions (BOSS) program to advance energy-efficiency improvements in their Wilmington facility.

LADWP CEO and Chief Engineer Janisse Quiñones met with Linde leadership to mark their successful project and celebrate the important role that Linde plays to help achieve L.A.'s sustainability objectives through energy efficiency.

Through the Business Offerings for Sustainable Solutions (BOSS) program, Linde implemented the Medium Pressure Liquefier (MPL) Turbine Replacement project, modernizing a refrigeration turbine to improve operational performance while significantly reducing energy use. Linde evaluated multiple turbine options and selected an energy-efficient alternative, maximizing the BOSS program rebate to proceed with a solution that delivered the greatest long-term value.

By investing in high-efficiency equipment, Linde modernized essential infrastructure, increased production output, and reduced energy consumption. The project highlights the impact of proactive energy-efficiency planning and strategic investment.

Through participation in the BOSS program, formerly known as LADWP's Custom Performance Program, the upgrade reduced mechanical losses and improved compressor effectiveness. These improvements resulted in measurable energy savings, reduced greenhouse gas emissions, and long-term operational benefits.

"Linde's decision to invest an energy-efficient turbine, despite higher upfront costs, reflects real leadership. Linde's Wilmington facility plays a critical role in supplying industrial gases, welding supplies, and equipment to businesses throughout the Los Angeles region. The turbine replacement project demonstrates how targeted investments in high-efficiency technology, supported by LADWP incentives, can strengthen operations while advancing citywide clean energy and climate objectives.
