NEW: Under Trump, Consumer Sentiment Hits Record Low — Again Arrow

Americans feel terrible about Trump's economy as prices skyrocket

New data released today shows that consumer sentiment has sunk to the lowest level ever recorded for the second straight month as prices soar and jobs disappear. The cost-of-living is the top concern among consumers, with 57% saying that high prices are eroding their personal finances, up from 50% last month, and consumers worry that inflation will only get worse. As Americans worry about how to get by in his economy, Donald Trump said last week he doesn't consider Americans' financial situations, "even a little bit."

Trump's war of choice with Iran has pushed the average price of gas to $4.55 per gallon, creating ripple effects that have driven up the cost of groceries, utility bills, and other everyday goods even higher. Now, prices are rising at the highest rate in three years - growing faster than wages - and expected to rise even more. Inflation is expected to be over 7% for the second quarter of the year.

It's no wonder new polling found that just 16% of adults rate the economy "excellent" or "good,"while 49% say it is "poor," and 76% of Americans say economic conditions are getting worse. Two-thirds of Americans say the country is going in the wrong direction and 70% disapprove of Trump's handling of the economy - more than 20 points higher than his first term.

In response,DNC Spokesperson Jaelin O'Halloran released the following statement:

"Donald Trump has wrecked the economy and made life nearly impossible for working families as prices keep climbing with no relief in sight. Everyday Americans are struggling to make their budgets work as the cost of everything from gas to groceries to monthly healthcare premiums skyrocket. As Americans struggle to get by, Trump is looting taxpayers for his vanity projects and corrupt slush funds for his political allies. Trump said explicitly that he doesn't care about Americans' financial situations 'even a little bit,' and he's making that obvious."
