Major Milestone Reached in HELIX NJ Construction

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ (September 19, 2024) - The HELIX (Health + Life Science Exchange) NJ project recently reached a significant milestone when the final beam was placed atop the 12-story, 574,000-square-foot H-1 building in New Brunswick.

The topping-off ceremony, symbolizing the completion of the significant structural phase of the project, was attended by numerous dignitaries and stakeholders, including Mayor Jim Cahill, Rutgers President Jonathan Holloway, New Jersey Economic Development Authority Chief Executive Officer Tim Sullivan, Middlesex County Commissioner Director Ron Rios and DEVCO President Chris Paladino.

Located on French Street, across from the New Brunswick Train Station, H-1 will be a nexus for the Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and the Rutgers Translational Research facility.

It is conceived as a vibrant hub where emerging companies can partner with top universities and businesses to bring innovative research to market. This ambitious development project, estimated to cost approximately $750 million, represents a significant milestone in the city's history.

This is the first of what will be a three-building campus offering 1.5 million square feet of research and collaborative workspaces. These spaces will drive advancements in health and life sciences and foster economic growth.

H-2, a 10-story building currently in development, will house Nokia Bell Labs in 2028. H-3, a 42-story mixed-use building that will provide office spaces on the lower floors and housing units on the upper floors, is expected to be completed by 2030.
